昨天给Huw发了邮件询问了为什么会block中国用户的问题

大致的意思就是，中国IP有很多攻击行为，然后他又没有任何从中国用户处盈利，所以他设置了Block，减少对网站的冲击。

和他来回了两封邮件，争取到了暂时解除了这个限制，各种应用应该也可以用了，还请大家珍惜啊。。。

Hi, Do you aware that users from China, ( I dont know other country,but US and EU user surely do not have this problem) Everytime we access this site, we are firstly direct to the security check page ( As long as the page is closed for a short time, we need to do it again....) This is so inconvenience, especially that recent days, that page is really slow, it will need to refresh the page for several time before we can read the image for input whatever number or letter it shows. And this seems to me occur to all the user from China. And due to this check, all those mobile APPs wont work too! Could you check the security check setting for the site for China IP? I know a lot of AFOL around me dont use this site if not really necessary, we tend to turn to BL or rebrickable for info, just because this is too trouble...

There is currently a block on Chinese IPs due to the number of security alerts generated by users using them, hacking attempts etc.


It sounds selfish, I know, but given I generate no revenue from Chinese users, there would seem to be no need to lift the block, only to leave the site vulnerable again.

Thanks for the reply. I see your points. I had to say, afaik, those kinds of hacking or virus things are mostly not generate from China user themselves at all. Just there are many chinese Internet user might not take enough care about their computer and been victim to virus or some hacker from outside of China... it’s really sad and somehow, unfair... Anyway, what you said is true if just look on the result however, I do wish you could somehow solve this problem in another way? since the other site might also face the same problem as this one, say BL,Eurobricks, and various other welknown site that we also visit a lot, and they seems to be able to solve this issue. I know this might take some efforts, and well, as you said, you don’t get revenue from us. but this really means a lot for our AFOL in China... While, regarding the revenue, who knows, we are quickly glowing number of fans here in China, TLG also setup office and factory in China this year. If possible I also wish we could be benifical to your site in someway in the near future.

You are right, it is a bit short-sighted so I’ve removed the block. I will monitor the situation, though.
